TEC Shores Up Washington's Red Roof Inn

February 2008 - Washington, D.C.

TEC is providing structural engineering services for the foundation underpinning of a Red Roof Inn in Washington. TEC is working with a team of geotechnical and foundation specialist to rehabilitate the hotel's foundation that was disturbed as a result of excavation on the abutter's property. TEC is designing an underpinning system that will distribute the building loads below the limit of excavation for the adjacent construction. Services include: review of existing conditions survey and structural plans, evaluation of geotechnical criteria, underpinning system alternatives, structural analysis and modeling, design and detailing of structural underpinning systems, construction plans and CSI specifications, construction sequencing plan, and assisting the client with contractor bidding and procurement.

Compass Realty Associates Teams with TEC for Cape Cod Mall Redevelopment

February 2008 - Bourne, MA

TEC is assisting Compass Realty Associates, LLC with engineering and permitting services related to the redevelopment of the Cape Cod Factory Outlet Mall in Bourne adjacent to Route 6 and just south of the Sagamore Bridge. The work includes land planning, site design and traffic engineering services to accommodate the proposed expansion and retrofit of the existing building, along with a stand alone building, from approximately 125,000 sf to 140,000 sf. The project is currently in the design stage, with plans to begin construction in fall of 2008.

TEC Provides Flood Mitigation Alternatives to Wayland

February 2008 - Wayland, MA

TEC recently completed a flood mitigation study for Pelham Island Road in Wayland. The study was prepared for the Town's Board of Road Commissioners as a result of annual flooding of Pelham Island Road in the vicinity of Heard's Pond and the Sudbury River. TEC developed alternatives along with the Town to help mitigate the flooding impacts upon the road. It is hoped that the study will provide further supporting material for the Town so they may apply for State and Federal aid to help offset the cost of implementing the mitigation measures.

TEC Provides Structural Engineering Services for Mill Building Conversion

February 2008 - Lawrence, MA

TEC is providing structural engineering services for the design of a new 100-space, 3-level open-parking garage. TEC's client, DAXAD, LLC, is converting an existing mill building into fully leasable commercial office space. Due to limited at grade parking space available on the property, a parking structure is necessary to satisfy parking requirements for the proposed development. TEC is providing design drawings, details, and specifications in accordance with the Massachusetts Building Code, 6th edition, PCI, and ACI codes. Other services include: evaluation of geotechnical criteria, foundation system alternatives, structural analysis and modeling, weekly project correspondence meetings, and assistance to client for Contractor bidding and procurement.

Kodiak Awarded MassHighway Emergency Bridge Repair Contract

January 2008 - Essex County, MA

Kodiak Corporation was recently awarded an on-call contract from MassHighway for emergency bridge repairs in the Essex County. Assignments to date include a culvert repair passing under Route 1 in Saugus, structural repairs to Route 495 over Beacon Street in Andover, and structural repairs and railing reconstruction to Route 128 over Concord Street in Gloucester. Kodiak is responsible for not only construction, but also coordination of subcontractors, including steel prefabricators and engineering design for demolition, erection, structural, and temporary traffic management.

TEC Helps Restaurant Plans Become Reality

January 2008 - Massachusetts and New Jersey

TEC is currently providing structural engineering and consultation services for Sousa Design Architects and the Back Bay Restaurant Group at various restaurant locations. Projects have included the renovation and fit-out of both an existing and proposed Papa Razi Trattoria and Bar, and Joe's American Bar and Grill. TEC has provided construction plans, details, and sketches for diverse assignments including ceiling and roof renovations, demolition procedures, shoring, and the design of a steel framed outdoor seating area with retractable roof. All designs have been developed in accordance with the various local building codes.
