TEC Assists MBTA with Commuter Rail Station Improvements
October 2007 - Massachusetts
TEC has been selected to assist the MBTA and Jacobs Engineering Group in overseeing improvements to station platforms as part of the 2007 Station Enhancement Program. TEC is providing full-time daily and on-call clerk of the works and inspection services through completion of this fast track project. The Program currently includes eighteen (18) MBCR stations throughout Massachusetts.
Station improvements include the installation of Methyl Methacrylate Acrylic (MMA) on both in-bound and out-bound station platforms, and approach ramps. MMA is a lightweight wearing surface for concrete structures that provides thermal protection, reducing cracks, and a skid-resistant surface extending the service life of the deck. This Program requires a ten (10) year warranty from both the contractor and supplier at completion.
